The special effects look really neat! But it'll be hard to beat Glenn Close's Cruella.

This movie doesn't look unique. You could trade out Cruella for Harley Quinn. All these live-action movies are spun the same these days. This looks like any other Comic book movie they make. It gets old. Do the "masses" really want movies that ALL look the same. Is that what our culture wants? Juxtaposition this to 101 Dalmations movie portrayal of Glenn Close and Batman Returns portrayal of Michelle Pfeiffer becoming Catwoman. They are movies that exude smooth storytelling, subtle, slower-paced. You get to immerse in that world. Movies like this, rely on flash, music tracks, fire, bombs, explosions and the like to carry a film instead of a story.

People will literally never fail to find something to complain about. If Disney makes remakes, they cry for something original; when they bring something new, they compare it to any other existent movie and rather than seeing it as inspiration they automatically label it as a "lame copy". And if they don't, they will pick any feature in the movie and feel the need to point out how poorly done it is (Take Raya as an example, almost every single comment is based on complaining about the dragon's desing). The topic this time? "Ya'll are trying to make Cruella a relatable character when she's only plain evil, don't try to make us like her", not realizing that the whole point of this movie is to take us on a journey to how she became what she is: a crazy, evil, puppy-skinner. If you find any of these traits relatable, I'd suggest you sign yourself up in a mental health center. A small advice: try to appreciate things for what they essentially are. In this case: a movie. A form of entertainment. Stop taking stuff like this so seriously and pay attention to issues that actually matter instead. No need to take 1 element out and make a deal out of it so big that it keeps you away from a whole production. Just... sit back and enjoy, that's what it's meant for :)

Guys this is a PREQUEL, it's young Cruella, years before the current Cruella. In this film they explain why she does everything she does (I think.. well its pretty obvious). I say it because there are people who think that this is the film with the Cruella that we all know but it is not. Hopefully this hepls 😅

One thing that bugs me is how her gate titles her place as "Hell Hall" when that was just a nickname the locals around gave it cause the name De Vil looks like devil and the people who lived there are evil. Also Yes a great main character the lady who wanted to skin puppies just so she can have a puppy skin coat!

Well, this is not a justification of her evil deeds. It is a more of how she got to skinning dogs (which, isn't any worse than causing harm to a coworker from a logical standpoint, but it is cruel morally) from just being a born psychopath. Another point to make - Emma has done a fabulous job, at least with the stellar dialogue delivery, expressions and the make-up team made her look just right for the role.

Look, everyone, this needs to be said: Based on the trailer and accompanying plot description, I REALLY don't think they're trying to portray Cruella as some kind of noble feminist hero. I think the closest they might come to that is implying that she merely believes herself to be that in her twisted, demented mind to justify what she does (Hence why the narrative in the trailer is Cruella's inner monologue, rather than an outer narrator). Let's break things down: 1. According to the description, she starts the movie off as a con artist. Not exactly someone most viewers would look at in a positive light or see as someone to look up to, especially since most con artists exploit and prey on their victims' compassion or generosity. 2. It looks like her main foe/ rival in it is a woman, Baroness Von Hellman. If it were truly meant to be a feminist film (Especially one intended to fit in with all the other recent ultra- feminist films), the main foe would undoubtedly be a man. 3. The Dalmatian dogs seen in the gala instinctively growl at her. That implies they sense she is untrustworthy and a threat to their master(s). 4. Over the course of the trailer, we see Cruella appear to, among other things, sic a massive swarm of bats (Who can carry a whole host of infectious diseases, including rabies) on a bunch of socialites at a fashion show, lead some kind of large- scale heist, and engage in at least one case of arson. Compared to all that, plotting to skin some puppies seems like a walk in the park. You'd be hard- pressed to portray someone who does all that as heroic, let alone as a feminist role model. So, based on what we've seen, I don't think it's meant to be a reimagining of the story to portray her as a sympathetic feminist hero (a la the 'Maleficent' films); Rather, it seems to be an origin- story on how her greed and ambition make her go from a low- level criminal scamming a few saps out of their cash to a full- fledged monster willing to stoop to any depth to get what she wants. I'm cautiously optimistic about this. I just hope they have it include a new cover of the "Cruella De Vil" song.

When did being something in an ironic and sinister twist of fate we were to learn that she is the direct descendent of Cinderella. Not much purpose in creating a shared universe for the Disney characters, but it would be a hell of a way to lay the groundwork for a live actor version of kingdom hearts. You go grl, animal cruelty, burglary, delusions of self grandeur and mental inatabiliy all hallmarks of female empowerment. At least according to Disney, a company which sits in chinese pocket, which in turn would explain the turning of an animal abusing villain into role model and misunderstood hero. I wonder how many people will name their daughter Cruella after watching this movie cause they didn't get that she's the villain. That said this looks like a good watch. I look forward to it.
